A BIT OF FUN !

QUOTE of THE WEEK  5th AUGUST 2008

This weeks quote was by one of our natural comedians Lofty :

Whilst watching the Star cup game versus Camford, Lofty & all the Pwll crowd were getting anxious for a break & equaliser as Camford were 1-0 up from the 1st half & with only 5 mins to go & Pwll putting everybody forward to score. The goalkeeper was taking his time with a goal kick when Lofty shouts:

"I've seen the Titanic turn round quicker than this keeper taking a goalkick"

A few expletives followed however the saying becomes a website favourite.

One Question & One Question Only

This week to Martin McCarthy:

Sat 1st Sept 2007

Martin, You've been thrown into the 1st team this season playing in the back & stand in goalkeeper in a team that reached the Star Cup Semi-Final. You've also had more photo's in the Local Newspaper than any other player of any club.

Q. How do you feel about you're new found Fame & Playing up a level

 Saturday December 22nd 2007

 saw a super 14 -a-side 5-5 drawn game.

The 'Tony Tiger' Memorial Trophy was not won outright & will be shared this year.

PWLL Young 5 PWLL Oldies 5

The game was played in wet conditions which made for nearly perfect football seeing most of the young side were out on the raz til early hours.

Tom Connors, Blakey, Liam & some others scored for the Young team.

Rob Harries, Clive Thomas,

Scott Edwards, AnthonyBonnell &

Mark Aitken scored for Oldies.

One Question & One Question Only

This week to Anthony Bonnell

Sat 13th October 2007

Bon, You've been around for a while, a long while. Your a pleasure to watch on the football field, skillfull, experienced, a proper character winding up not only your opponents but your own team players. You also scored again this week. It must give you great pleasure playing alongside the captain of Pwll, your son Christian for the last few seasons. Not many dads are able to do that.

Q. Are you waiting to play in the same team with your younger sons Dean & Lee before you retire?

LAUGH of THE WEEK  12th April 2008

This week the LAUGH was on Lofty :

You know that friendly Guy, Anthony Guy in fact.

The Ex midfielder who now plays in goal only due to a dodgy knee, oh and the fact he's getting a little older &

 a bit slower.

Set the scene:

Pwll Reserves at home v Johnstown Reserves a very good passing side who comfortably went 2-0 up mid 2nd half. Pwll needed 3 points to avoid the drop & all was not well.

Pwll scored 2 late on through Aitken & Paddy to make it 2-2 but were well under the cosh & Lofty getting irritated.

The referee Gary Hire blew for a Pwll freekick & was booking a Johnstown player when out of the blue came the words :-

"Serves you right you mouthy w*n*** thats £9 out yer own pocket"

The Referee marched up to Lofty & proceeded to book him also which he sheepishly accepted with Johnstown & all his Pwll team mates laughing their heads off.

Footnote: At least Pwll did get their 3 points with Gwyn Pugh scoring in the closing minutes to make it 3-2

A. I Havn't thought about it really. I feel its a makeshift thing at present as the time I get into the 1st team is the time we are promoted to the Premier.

I am enjoying my football & love playing with the 1st team gang. I'm not happy we lost to that bunch today, we'll do better next time.

If anyone is going to take my place in the 1st team they will have to work hard to get it.

I'd like to think the photographer in the Llanelli Star was female & found me photogenically attractive.

A.   Retire! Retire! I nearly retired after the Gorsienon match, I got booked for nothing,

I can't afford to pay another £9.

I had a few words with that ref.

I've got 6 years left in me yet. I'm 44 now & the body of a 22 year old.

I'm proud to be playing alongside Christian who is nearly as good as me.

Lee has just started playing 11-a-side football this season & the day he starts playing for Pwll Reserves I'm calling it a day. He will replace me in the team while I will be able to relax in my armchair with my pipe & slippers & support Leeds Utd, they'll be back in the Premier & Europe by that time.

One Question & One Question Only

This week to Steve Williams

Thurs 20 Sept 2007

Steve, You've had some bad luck lately after taking on the thankless job of collecting subs off the Pwll Football Team. I heard you fell & got injured on the first day of your holidays & to cap it off your an Ardent Chelsea Supporter.

Q. What are your thoughts of

 Jose' Mourinho leaving Chelsea ?

LAUGH of THE WEEK  St Davids Day 1st March 2008

This week the LAUGH was on me,(CHRIS Watkeys) :

Set the scene:

10 minutes to go, Pwll down 3-2 to Dafen & pushing to get that equaliser. The ball was kicked out of play by a Dafen defender.

As a Pwll supporter I wanted to do the right thing for my team,a quick throw.

The ball was smashed hard coming straight for me, I was a yard off the touchline.

I stopped the ball with great control & juggled the ball as I was a little off balance,

I passed the ball perfectly with superb precision to the Pwll player to take the throw- in & with great excecution.

I was very pleased with myself. I felt just like I was back in my playing days.

Everybody was watching ,spectators, All players from both teams, the referee, the cyclists on the path and the man & his dog.

Then it happened, I was fine ,I was upright, I 'd just made the pass of the game.

I found myself, well you know the place where that muddy slightly wet patch is.

I lost my balance & fell flat on my arse in a pool of mud.

well at least everybody had a laugh that day.

One Question & One Question Only!

This week to John Taylor 1st team manager

 Christmas 2007 15/12/07

Q. What do you want for christmas?.

A.   SHOCKED, I like the man. News was out of the BLUE But there again I've seen it all before, Gullitt, Vialli, Ranieri all left on a high. I loved them all. Even Ian Porterfield & John Hollins many years before that.

Mourinho will never be forgotten bringing 2 Premiership titles to the club on the spin after 50 years plus all the cups including the 1st FA cup at the New Wembley.

Abramovich is the owner & all this might not have happened without him.

I'm not watching the Man U game as over many years as a Chelsea fan I'm afraid of a hammering & not used to this success.

On the Cards, He'll be the next Man U manager.

Oh, I fell down some concrete steps in my garden & hurt my leg & back. I'll be alright as long as the players come to pay me their subs and I don't have to chase them.

STEVE BURNS

Steve has played for PWLL for the last 2 seasons & has played for both PWLL squads. Steve is an excellent player normally plays Midfield however played as a solid left back in out STAR CUP ventures.

We are all sorry to see Steve go however he is seeking pastures new & has taken up a job in GLASGOW, SCOTLAND. We all wish Steve the best for the future & is welcome back at anytime.

A.   All I want for christmas is 3 points v Hendy & 90 mins later we got them. My next request is another 3 points v Seaside on 29th, One game at a time. I believe I got the players to move up this league & looking at the young players coming through, with experience in a few years time we could be challenging for the very top. Staying up in this division is priority to stabilise club & a good run in the cup would be good.
